Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) is a renowned public university located in Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is known for its strong academic programs and research facilities. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields of study. For the Academic year 2024-2025, SUST Admission Activities have been started.

SUST Admission Circular 2025

SUST Admission Test 2025 will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025. The test will be conducted in two units: Unit A and Unit B.

  • Unit B exam will be held in the morning.
  • Unit A exam will be held in the afternoon.

Students who have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent examination in the science group can apply for both Unit A and Unit B, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria. Students who have passed the HSC or equivalent examination in other groups can only apply for Unit B.

SUST Admission Test Date

The SUST admission test will be held at SUST and various educational institutions in Sylhet city. Additionally, the test will also be held at selected educational institutions in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rangpur, and Jashore. 

The number of seats at the Dhaka centers will be limited. Once the seats at these centers are filled, the option to choose Dhaka as a center will no longer be available. However, the number of seats at the centers in other cities will remain open.

Important Note: The admission test for the Department of Architecture (ARC) will only be held at the SUST campus in Sylhet. Detail Schedule are given below.

Unit B candidates must arrive at their designated exam center by 10:00 AM, and Unit A candidates must arrive by 2:30 PM.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students who have passed the HSC (General and Technical)/Alim/Diploma-in-Commerce/equivalent examination in 2023 or 2024 and the SSC (General and Technical)/Dakhil/equivalent examination in 2021 or 2022 are eligible to apply.
  • For Unit A: A minimum GPA of 3.0 in both SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examinations with a combined GPA of 7.0 is required. Additionally, a minimum GPA of 3.5 in mathematics in the HSC/equivalent examination (or a grade of B in A-level) is mandatory.
  • For Unit B: A minimum GPA of 3.0 in both SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examinations with a combined GPA of 6.5 is required for all groups (Science, Humanities, and Commerce).
  • For GCE: A minimum of 5 subjects passed in IGCSE (O Level) with at least 3 subjects at grade B and 3 subjects passed in IAL (A Level) with at least 2 subjects at grade B is required.
  • Diploma-in-Engineering: Students who have passed the Diploma-in-Engineering examination must have also passed the SSC or equivalent examination in 2019 or 2020. They need to send their gradesheets/certificates to equivalence-application@sust.edu by January 12, 2025, for equivalency assessment.

Special Cases:

  • Bangladeshi citizens who have studied abroad need to send their required documents (passport-sized color photograph, passport/citizenship certificate, 10th Grade/O Level/SSC/equivalent and 12th Grade/A Level/HSC/equivalent certificates and marksheets) to foreign-application@sust.edu by January 12, 2025, for evaluation.
  • Foreign nationals (holding foreign passports) must have passed the 12th Grade or IAL (A Level) or HSC/equivalent examination. They need to send their required documents (passport-sized color photograph, passport/citizenship certificate, 10th Grade/O Level/SSC/equivalent and 12th Grade/A Level/HSC/equivalent certificates and gradesheets, unofficial Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score sheet (if available), and a list of departments they wish to apply to) to foreign-application@sust.edu by February 28, 2025, for evaluation.
  • International Olympiad Medalists: Students who have won gold, silver, or bronze medals in the International Mathematical Olympiad, International Informatics Olympiad, International Physics Olympiad, or other recognized international Olympiads can apply without taking the admission test. The Olympiad must be at the secondary or higher secondary level. They need to send their required documents (passport-sized color photograph, SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent certificates, and Olympiad medal certificate) to olympiad-application@sust.edu by February 28, 2025, for evaluation.

Application Procedure

Detailed information and a complete manual regarding the SUST undergraduate admission test 2024-25 can be found at admission.sust.edu.bd/applicationprocedure.pdf.

Interested students can apply online through the admission.sust.edu.bd website. The SUST Application process involves filling out the application form, uploading necessary certificates, marksheets, and a photograph, and paying the required fee.

  1. If a student wishes to take the exam in both Unit A and Unit B, they must complete two separate applications.
  2. Students applying for Group-2 (A2) in Unit A will be considered for admission to all departments in Group-1 (A1), including the Department of Architecture (ARC).
  3. To apply, visit admission.sust.edu.bd and sign up with your HSC passing year, board, roll number, and mobile number (your own or your guardian's). You will receive a User ID and Password on the provided mobile number.
  4. Once the application is complete, the candidate will be provided with a Bill/Reference Number and the amount of fee payable.
  5. Payment can be made through methods detailed on the admission.sust.edu.bd website.
  6. The admit card/roll number will be available for download from the website 72 hours before the exam.
  7. No changes to the photograph or academic information can be made once the application is complete.

SUST Admission Test Method

The admission test will be entirely based on Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). Answers must be marked on an OMR form using a black ballpoint pen.

Important Note: Mobile phones and all other electronic devices are strictly prohibited in the examination hall, except for specific models of calculators. Information regarding calculator models can be found at admission.sust.edu.bd/calculatormodels.pdf.

Question Pattern and Marks Distribution

The admission test question paper will be in Bengali. However, if a candidate wishes to receive the question paper in English, they must indicate this in the designated place on the application form.

For the remaining 15 marks: HSC Humanities students will answer questions from the Humanities branch.

Important Notes:

  • For admission to GEB and BMB departments, participation in Biology in the admission test is mandatory.
  • Candidates seeking admission to the Department of Architecture must obtain a minimum of 40% marks in the drawing and general knowledge of architecture exam.
  • To be admitted to the English department in Unit B, candidates must obtain 40% marks in English in the admission test.
  • To be admitted to the Economics department, Humanities and Commerce students must obtain 40% marks in Secondary level General Mathematics in the admission test, and Science students must answer the Mathematics section.

Admit Card

Students can download their admit cards from the admission.sust.edu.bd website by signing in. Two copies of the admit card must be printed on white A4 size offset paper in color. Candidates must bring two copies of the admit card for each unit on the day of the admission test. Admit cards will be available for download 72 hours before the scheduled date of the admission test.

Seat Plan

The seat plan for the admission test will be published on the university's admission test website (admission.sust.edu.bd) 72 hours before the scheduled date of the admission test.

Admission Test Result

The merit list will be prepared based on the total score out of 100, calculated as follows:

  • Admission test score (out of 80)
  • SSC GPA multiplied by 2
  • HSC GPA multiplied by 2

In due course, the SUST admission test results and related information will be published on the university's notice board and website (admission.sust.edu.bd).

Final Admission

A candidate will be eligible for admission to only one department based on the merit list, subject-specific eligibility, and preference, subject to availability of seats.

At the time of admission, candidates must bring the following:

  • 4 recent passport-sized color photographs
  • Original marksheets and certificates of SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examinations
  • Admission fee

Details regarding the SUST admission schedule and submission of photocopies of marksheets will be announced at the time of admission. The original HSC/equivalent marksheet will be retained by the university. Candidates applying for reserved seats must bring the original certificate provided by the relevant authority.
